The Outdoor Pursuits Leadership Training Program is designed to provide training and experience in safe and responsible leadership of outdoor pursuits activities and is one of the most comprehensive leadership programs available.
The Program includes skills courses in a variety of land-based outdoor activities, professional development courses, and field leadership (practicum) experiences. It uses adventure as a modality to discuss and practice leadership theories and skills such as problem-solving, group development, and critical thinking, .
Participation in the Program is exciting and challenging, providing opportunities to enhance skills, experience personal growth, develop leadership abilities, and explore the region’s exceptionally beautiful and diverse outdoor areas.
As you progress through each course, you will take classes that help develop skills both to be technically competent and to be an effective leader in experiential education and outdoor recreation. After you move through the program, you will be left with clear and concise documentation as to your experience and certifications in outdoor leadership.
Our goal is to provide leaders with a toolbox of both technical and interpersonal skills to make them prime candidates to gain employment as professionals in outdoor recreation.
