cedar conesThis course introduces students to the natural history of the region and develops teaching and interpretation skills. The focus is on gaining an understanding of the ecology of oak/savanna and western Cascades old growth ecosystems.

Course topics include: ecological concepts, teaching strategies for outdoor settings, natural history, and environmental interpretation. Emphasis is placed on using a taxanomic key to identify native trees and shrubs.
