Rock climbing courses are extremely popular, and most of the time, courses are full before many students have had a chance to register. We'd like you to know how to hold onto a spot if you're enrolled in a course, and how to maximize your chances of obtaining a spot if the course is full on DuckWeb. The following protocols govern enrollment and attendance in our rock climbing courses:
- First class attendance is mandatory! NO EXCEPTIONS. If you miss the first class session, you forfeit your spot! You will be replaced by someone in attendance who is trying to enroll in the course. Note: it is YOUR responsibility to drop the course on DuckWeb. The instructor cannot do this for you.
- There is a very good possibility that you'll be able to participate in a course if it is shown as "full" on DuckWeb. Many enrolled students do not attend the first class session, making spaces available. Go to the first class session!
- If there is an open spot at the first class session, but three people in competition for it, the course instructor will determine, using an equitable strategy, who gets the spot.
- If you're enrolled in a rock climbing course, but want to switch to another course, you must first drop the course you are registered in, then enroll in the course you want to switch into. If the course you want to switch into is full, you must attend the first class session to find out if there are spots available. In this instance, you will NOT receive priority for an open spot.
- If you want to enroll in the course as a non-credit student, you must do so at the first class session. Earlier enrollments are not possible. The course instructor will determine, at that time, if space is available.
- A facility pass (e.g. ID card) is required to access the SRC. If you want to participate in a rock climbing course, but do not have a facility pass, you must purchase a membership to the facility, after which clearance to receive an ID card will be provided.
